Privacy
Last updated 14 August 2026This site collects as little as it can get away with, because it only does one thing and that one thing does not need much.
No payment information, ever
There is no card field anywhere on this site and no payment information of any kind is collected, transmitted, or stored. No card number, no expiry, no security code, no bank details. There is nothing here that could be used to charge anybody, which also means there is nothing here for anybody to steal.
The winner is sent an invoice by email at the end and pays it directly. If a payment provider issues or collects that invoice, the winner deals with it on that provider’s own site, and nothing they enter there comes back here.
What is collected
- Your email address, to confirm that a bid came from a real person who can be contacted if they win.
- The name you choose and the message you write. Both are public. That is the entire point of them.
- A hashed version of your IP address, used to rate-limit abuse. The raw address is never stored.
- A shipping address, from the winner only, at the end, in order to send them a strawberry.
What is shown
Your chosen name, your message, the amount you bid, and the time you bid it.
Your email address is never displayed, never appears in any response from this site, and is never sold or shared for marketing. Nobody bidding against you can see it.
Email you might receive
A confirmation link when you bid. That one is unavoidable, because it is how a bid becomes real.
Optionally, a note when somebody outbids you. That box is ticked by default and every one of those emails carries a one-click unsubscribe link that works immediately and needs no account, no password, and no reply. Unsubscribing does not affect your bids, and you are still emailed if you win.
If you win, an email telling you so. There is no newsletter, and there will not be one.
Who else touches your data
- Supabase hosts the database.
- Vercel hosts the site.
- Resend sends the email.
- Google screens submitted messages for abuse, via the Gemini API. Only the public name and the message text are sent, never your email address.
Nothing is sent to any advertising or analytics network.
Cookies
One, after you confirm your first bid, so you do not have to click an email link every time. It holds your verified address and a signature proving the site issued it. It expires after ninety days. There are no tracking or advertising cookies.
How long it is kept
Bids and messages are kept for as long as the site exists, because the ledger is a public record of the auction and removing entries would make it a false one.
Email addresses are deleted a year after the auction settles. Shipping details are deleted once the strawberry has arrived.
Removing your data
Email strawberrybid0@gmail.com and your address and any shipping details will be deleted.
A message that has already been on the front page cannot be un-published from the ledger, but it can be detached from your name and shown as anonymous. Ask and it will be.
Children
This site is not aimed at children under 13 and no bid should be placed by one.
Questions about any of this go to strawberrybid0@gmail.com.
